After many months of branding and product development and sample label trials, the initial product range of Yellow Box, Grey Iron Bark, Stringy Bark and Apple Tree are now ready to hit the shelves.

This has been no mean feat, ensuring that the premium nature of the product was not compromised. It was important for us to source premium looking jars that helped to display the product in the best way, to not only aid shelf presence, but have a hermetic seal for improved shelf life. We initially started with a gold coloured lid, but felt that this was ultimately too cliched for a premium product and would also detract from the gold highlights that were present in the product label.

The labels themselves required extensive work, looking at varying sizes, shapes, colours and substrates. We initially started with three labels for each jar - a front facing label with the product branding and product description, a back label with the ingredients, nutritional content and brand information, and a base label for the bar code and best before information. However, working closely with the packing company based in Scotland, we were advised to reduce the number of labels from three to one. The best before information was moved to the neck of the lid via the packing companies inkjet technology, so this meant that all other information needed to be on one single warp label. We set about changing the artwork, but did not compromise on the required information or size of text. The clever use of typography and layout, meant that the result was a clean, premium label that not only suited the brand, but was cost effective to produce and to apply.

The labels are printed full colour onto a Matt Clear Metallic Silver PolyPropylene material, then a matt lamination is then applied to provide a premium and tactile element to the product. The gold colour is made by setting up a CMYK gold colour in the artwork stage and is then set to a translucent level when printed onto the metallic substate. This then provides a more subtle sheen once the matt lamination is applied.

The initial product range will be available in three sizes, 75g, 285g and 400g. There will also be Gift Boxes and Sample Boxes available later in the year housing these products and new products that we are looking to develop.
